On the Eve of a Breakthrough ～ The Next Generation of Artists ～
I visited the special exhibition “On the Eve of a Breakthrough ～ The Next Generation of Artists ～” being held at Bunkamura Gallery.
“On the Eve of a Breakthrough ～ The Next Generation of Artists ～” is a five-minute television program broadcast on BS Fuji every Tuesday from 21:55. Each week it introduces one artist who will carry the next generation, and to date that number has reached about 100.
This project presents, across two sessions, roughly 60-plus of the young artists featured on the program who are drawing attention both at home and abroad.

This time I’m reporting on “PartⅠ,” the first session.
The life-size “Person of the Empty Vessel” by Hideo Takashima, visible at the back, really makes an impact.

Hideo Takashima’s work is superb as ever.
I visited on February 7, 2018. Even though the run was already half over, sales weren’t all that brisk. Personally I have high hopes for the artists in the second session, so I’d like to report on it again.
