[Preview Exhibition] The New Gallery EUKARYOTE (Gaienmae), "PREVIEW"

EUKARYOTE

I visited the preview exhibition of “EUKARYOTE,” a newly opened gallery located across from the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art (Watari-um). It is a show featuring 12 emerging artists, held before the gallery’s official opening on March 2.

Because the nearby “Saison Art Gallery” closed in November 2017, this gallery is reportedly run by members who were involved in that operation. It seems several artists have moved over from Saison Art Gallery as well.

1F

Since it is a small, narrow three-story building (plus a rooftop), it is a gallery you can tour at a relatively brisk pace. The reception is at the back of the first floor; I received permission to photograph and had a look right away.

The works basically seem to be for sale, but some artists had no price list on hand, so I couldn’t quite tell…

Rooftop

I was told there was an installation on the rooftop as well, so I climbed the stairs and opened the door.

Mmm… How pleasant.

Summary

Since it is a gallery in very close proximity to Watari-um and On Sundays, it is a conveniently located spot.

Among the works this time, “Natsuki Takayama” caught my attention.

I look forward to their exhibitions to come.
