Ume to Sakura no Ada Kurabe
I visited the Nihonga two-person exhibition “Ume to Sakura no Ada Kurabe,” held in the lobby gallery on the 3rd floor of the main building of the Keio Plaza Hotel.
With the cherry blossoms in full bloom, the collaboration between Kanako Kiyomi’s cherry-blossom-themed works and Ai Kumehara’s plum-blossom works filled the space with the scent of spring.

Kanako Kiyomi’s works, with their calm tones and well-balanced coloring, have a reassuring quality that would sit perfectly when displayed in a tokonoma alcove.
An impactful large-scale work greeted us at the entrance.
From small works to large folding-screen pieces, I felt a formidable power that overwhelms the viewer with its wide-ranging sense of scale.
The Four Seasons
The works expressing each of the four seasons were superb.
Small Works
A variety of small works that are easy to purchase were also lined up.
They were works of a refinement befitting a display in a hotel.
