[Collectors' Exhibition] Yuzuru Shikida Collection @ The Art Complex Center of Tokyo

【コレクター展】敷田 譲コレクション@アートコンプレックスセンター

Collectors Week

“Collectors Week,” a collection exhibition featuring art collectors and hosted by The Art Complex Center of Tokyo, was held.

It is a collection of works handled by three collectors (Makoto Sasa, Kiyoshi Koizumi, and Kazuhiko Seki) together with the director of The Art Complex Center of Tokyo (Yuzuru Shikida).

Yuzuru Shikida

This collection puts the names of three private collectors front and center, but there is also one running quietly behind the scenes: the “YS Collection.” Most people probably wonder, “Who is that?!”—yet it is in fact the initials of Yuzuru Shikida, the director of The Art Complex Center of Tokyo.

What clearly distinguishes it from the other three is that, rather than a collection exhibition, it may be more accurate to call it a “sale from his personal holdings.”

Every one of the works conveys a sense of the history of The Art Complex Center of Tokyo. A rich variety of works by many different artists were lined up.

What is astonishing is the prices. They were unbelievably cheap—half, or even a third, of the actual market price. For entry-level buyers who have thought about hanging an artwork at home, this is a highly recommended collection exhibition.
