Yurie Itokawa
I went to Yurie Itokawa’s solo exhibition, held at Kodama Gallery in the TERRADA ART COMPLEX (Terrada Warehouse) in Tennozu.

The works have a fuzzy, watercolor-like gentle touch, yet they are finished by mixing media such as oil and acrylic.

It can’t be fully conveyed in photos, but many of the works make skillful use of light—glitter worked in like the makeup of a sparkly girl, or bold use of silver paint, and so on.

There were also works made using charcoal. At times they show a very bold touch—she’s a fascinating artist.

Her works seem to have a certain devoted following, both in Japan and abroad.

A distinctive worldview unfolded throughout, making for an impressive space.
