“art on Collection” is a corner where we present artworks acquired by this site’s editor. This time we introduce a work by the sculptural artist Masayo Keizuka.
“3331 ART FAIR 2018,” a satellite event of Art Fair Tokyo, was held at 3331 Arts Chiyoda. One of the areas that drew the most attention from visitors was Masayo Keizuka’s corner.
After a scramble, I too managed to buy just one piece (this time it was first-come, first-served).
For the work I bought, I was contacted some time later and went to pick it up.
The box the work is stored in is a simple white. A 3331 Arts Chiyoda admission ticket was included (thank you!).
The tape sealing the box was printed with Masayo Keizuka’s name.
The piece I bought was work “No. 11.” Thoughtfully, the number pin attached to it during the exhibition was included as well.
Here is the work I acquired.
The theme of this exhibition was “chairs,” and this is a figure of a woman lying comfortably, treating a bear-like animal as her chair.
I display the work somewhere it stays within my line of sight in daily life. Living alongside this piece, I feel needless tension drain away, as if it winds me back to my own pace.
