I visited Miki Fuseya’s solo exhibition, held at “Shinjuku no Mori salo cafe,” a popular café in Shinjuku. It fell during the cherry-blossom season of early April, and the interior was decorated with a large cherry tree in full bloom, filling the shop with the feeling of spring.

Miki Fuseya is a female artist based in Gifu. Centering on vivid primary and fluorescent colors, her palette is gorgeous, and she paints mainly figurative works.
Even with her multicolored technique, the tone of each finished work is well controlled, leaving a strong impression of coherence as an artist.
Being a café-style gallery, it was a shame that the angles from which one could view the works were somewhat limited. Even so, with large works close to 100-go in size, pieces painted on acrylic panels, and works displayed in various spots around the shop, spending time appreciating art while relaxing in a café is a pleasure of its own.
I was fortunate enough to have the chance to speak with Miki Fuseya herself, who happened to be at the gallery. She was a very cheerful, bright, and positive person — a woman full of flair, just like the colors in her work.
She seems to have her sights set overseas, and is already making moves toward a solo exhibition in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in September 2018.
