Within walking distance of the gallery I recommend, at the foot of Mount Kinka, I stopped by a stylish café called “Yajima Coffee.”

A spotless café run by a young married couple. There is even a roaster in the shop, giving it an authentic feel.

The counter and tables are spaciously arranged, and with the high ceiling it has a calm, relaxing atmosphere.

There is a wide variety of coffee, and the prices are kept relatively low, too.

The sweets are authentic as well, and you can enjoy them affordably with a set menu.

I had the black-tea cake — a grown-up flavor with the sweetness firmly held in check. It was wonderful.

I also photographed the plate of the person who joined me. Served with vanilla ice cream, it was thoroughly satisfying.
The kind of place you’ll want to drop by and relax at — on the way to or from a gallery, or coming back from Mount Kinka.
