Andy Denzler

Born in 1965, the handsome visual artist “Andy Denzler.” A Swiss-born artist based in Zurich, he is an artist drawing considerable attention.

Here I would like to report, together with photographs of the works, on his solo exhibition held in May 2018 at “OPERA GALLERY” in Paris.

His works, recognizable as Denzler’s at a single glance, are apparently created through techniques such as scraping away, with a knife, paintings rendered in oils.

The works he paints are mostly portraits, and the protagonists created with his technique have their individual importance diminished through effects reminiscent of the flicker of old footage or the distortion and noise that appear in digital images—and it is that very effect he seizes upon as his central theme.

THE PAINTER’S ROOM

Reportedly, 30 new works were on display.

Several sculptural works were reportedly also on display.

Perhaps what is entrusted to us as viewers is to redefine the fuzzy, hazy world of the works Denzler expresses.

In any case, Andy Denzler’s works are stylish and COOL! I would love to see him hold a solo exhibition in Japan as well.
