The fun of fine art is “updating your sensibility toward beauty,” isn’t it
A tweet posted a little while ago by a sculptor I admire has stayed in my mind ever since.
The fun of fine art is updating your sensibility toward beauty, isn’t it.
For every visit to a museum, for every fine work you encounter, tomorrow’s world looks that much more beautiful.
Standing before a work of art unlike anything we have ever encountered, we are sometimes struck with awe.
On the other hand (in many cases), there are also plenty of works that don’t move us at all — and sometimes ones we don’t even consciously register having seen. It is said that the number of artists engaged in the creative work that sustains art far exceeds the number of people who buy it, so perhaps this is only to be expected.
When you engage with art day after day, there are moments when you sense a subtle change inside your brain.
Changes within yourself you have never experienced before, or psychological shifts that connect past to future as if the old file were being saved over — the delight of feeling your heart change is one of the real thrills.
To feel a shift in your heart so large that it is almost audible may just be the reward of taking art as your pastime.
I want to live a life rich in heart.
all you need is art!
