SICF
I went to SICF19 (the 19th Spiral Independent Creators Festival).
While chatting with the participating artist Hitoshi Tsuboyama, the conversation turned to Shinnosuke Tojo. It seems that what prompted Tsuboyama to enter this year’s SICF was the very presence of Shinnosuke Tojo, who won the Grand Prix at the previous SICF. Since he called Tojo “an artist I respect,” I went to see the concurrently held “SICF18 Winners Exhibition.”
Shinnosuke Tojo
Shinnosuke Tojo is an artist who creates works primarily using metals such as copper plate and steel plate. By oxidizing thin metal sheets less than 1cm thick and adding fine scratches to their surfaces, he creates deep, resonant works with a real sense of depth.
