[Over 800 pieces!] Tomoo Gokita's large-scale installation is a delight!

Tomoo Gokita「PEEKABOO」

I went to Tomoo Gokita’s solo exhibition “PEEKABOO.”

At the very end of the gallery, where overwhelming large works are lined up, stood the large-scale installation you see in these photos.

Look closely and you see it is a work made of small framed pieces packed randomly together with no gaps.

The work is titled “Untitled,” mixed media, dimensions variable (2008, 2014–2015).

Many drawings are arranged apart from one another, with no connection between them.

You make unexpected discoveries, and it never gets tiring to look at.

The smallest works are only a few centimeters in size.

These works were credited as belonging to the gallery, but it seems that pieces from the collection of the famous KAWS are also included.

He has become an artist whose major works are out of reach, but with the small pieces, maybe even a modest, everyday collector could get hold of one・・・? “I want this one!”・・・ As I found myself thinking such things, a sense of closeness welled up.
