[Joint Exhibition] "ShinPA2018 –Pair-" & "Tanzaku Painting Exhibition" @ Sato Museum of Art

ShinPA2018 –Pair-

I visited the Sato Museum of Art, situated midway between Sendagaya and Shinanomachi.

“ShinPA2018 –Pair-” is a research exhibition by graduates and current students of the Painting and Decoration Laboratory in the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts. As the name suggests, each artist exhibited various works under the theme of “pair.”

Tanzaku Painting Exhibition

The joint project running alongside “ShinPA2018 –Pair-” was this “Tanzaku Painting Exhibition.”

The works were exhibited and sold at the “Museum Shop” on the second floor of the Sato Museum of Art. Remarkably, the works were priced at an exceptional 20,000 yen, framing included. Another intriguing twist is that artist names are not included in the captions. When I visited on the second day, all but a few pieces had already been marked with red dots—sold out—a testament to the project’s popularity.
