I often visit lovely galleries in the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa area — ondo, Harmas, and others — but when it comes to “grabbing a meal while you’re at it,” this neighborhood offers surprisingly few choices. Not wanting to settle for Denny’s, I keep trying the independent spots, though there aren’t that many appealing ones.
For when you feel like going all-in, my recent favorite is a Chinese place.
This time my recommendation is the ramen & tsukemen shop “Menya Miyamoto.”
Tsukemen is 950 yen. A bit on the pricey side. You can upgrade from the regular to the medium portion for free.
A rich seafood-based dipping broth. It contains onion, which lends a subtle sweetness.
The noodles are medium-thick — chewy and delicious.
The value-for-money is a little underwhelming, but the meal itself was tasty. The interior has a calm atmosphere, so I was able to take my time.
