Pocorart National Open Call Exhibition vol.8
We visited the “Pocorart National Open Call Exhibition” held at Arts Chiyoda 3331.
“Pocorart National Open Call” is a nationwide open call that started in 2011 with the aim of creating a space for free expression by people with and without disabilities, alongside professional artists. This time there was an astonishing total of 1,232 submitted works, and 124 pieces selected by the jury were shown — a truly substantial exhibition.

As is often the case in the art world, where many pioneering artists with disabilities have won high acclaim, the show was full of striking works, with surprises and discoveries around every corner.

We encountered many works that took a physical approach — pieces that involved repetition, iteration, and gradual variation, or that made you imagine painstaking, patient labor — alongside others that stunned us with their projected motifs and coloring methods. A round of applause for a thoroughly enjoyable exhibition!
