[Dai Ah!!rt Exhibition] A Little Extra Art — Taku Hisamura @ Seibu Shibuya

Art That Makes You Cry Out — Dai Ah!!rt Exhibition

The Dai Ah!!rt Exhibition, now a regular art program produced by Fuji Television, was held at Seibu Shibuya. The full title is “Art That Makes You Cry Out — Dai Ah!!rt Exhibition.” Launched several years ago, the project was previously staged under the title “Ah-ho!”

The exhibition is produced by broadcast writer Mitsuru Kuramoto. It is a delightful art project that brings together works full of surprise, emotion, and humor — the kind that make you unconsciously blurt out “Ah!!” The show applies the “Ah-ho” filter, a playful spin on the Osaka-dialect praise word “ahoya na~” (“what a fool ~”), to add a witty retort to the works of emerging creators. This not only makes each artist’s originality even more striking but also brings the essence of their work to the surface.

A Little Extra Ah!!rt

The work exhibited under the credit “A Little Extra Ah!!rt” is by Taku Hisamura.

It is an unusual body of work: he takes a commercially available shirt, embeds a small art piece into part of the fabric, and displays it “framed.”

Ten shirts in total were on display; not only do their colors and patterns differ, but you can also tell they come from different brands.

The shirt was displayed so that the tag identifying it as a Burberry product was visible.

Hung indoors on a hook, it gave the impression that it could pass as interior decoration as is.

An embroidered patch is applied to the chest area. By centering the embroidery in the frame, he elevates it into a fully-fledged artwork.

The frame was hung slightly crooked, but the artwork itself is a simple, single-color patch-like design.

Truly “A Little Extra Ah!!rt.” If a small shift in perspective and a little added touch can reveal something new, then the world of art still has plenty of untapped possibility!
