Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo
The Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo gives the impression of being a museum that puts real effort into attracting visitors.
On top of evening hours, after-5 discounts for women, tickets for future exhibitions and reasonably priced passes, they roll out various initiatives with every exhibition.
During the Chaumet Exhibition, too, they offered free admission to students and children who came dressed in princess costumes on “Princess Day,” and toward the second half of the exhibition run they staged many merchandise giveaways — the kinds of initiatives that keep you interested.
Among them, the most interesting was the giveaway of a tote bag adorned with an adorable illustration by designer Daichi Miura. It was announced on the official website and social media three days before the event.

Pushed on by this initiative, I made up my mind to plunge into the crowd of female visitors and head to the museum.
Thanks to that I was able to see a truly wonderful exhibition — please refer to the impression report below.
Ten Minutes Before 19:00
As a “same-day ticket buyer after 19:00,” I slipped into the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo ticket booth at 18:50, ten minutes before. There was a line unlike any I had ever seen, which took me by surprise. Almost everyone in line was female, but I could also spot the occasional male participant who seemed to be an art lover. That was a bit reassuring (I am male).
Roughly counting, I was around 40th to 50th in line. Since it was first-come, first-served for 100 people, I felt safe for now.
The clientele seemed to consist mostly of women going alone. I waited about 15 minutes and safely got mine.

A high-quality tote bag made of solid, heavyweight fabric.

I heard it ran out in the blink of an eye. Truly a popular initiative.

I hope they continue offering these enjoyable initiatives that draw more visitors.
