[Art & Gourmet] A Recommendation Before or After Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo — Manhattan Grill's Happy Hour Is a Great Deal!

【アート&グルメ】 三菱一号館美術館の前後にオススメ〜マンハッタングリルのHappy Hourがお得!

Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo

“Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo,” a museum in the Marunouchi area that has recently drawn crowds with its popular “Chaumet Exhibition.”

There are plenty of stylish shops nearby. Of course, “Café 1894,” which is right next to the museum, is also recommended.
Once used as a banking hall, it is a café with a great deal of atmosphere, faithfully reproduced from that era. It has a slightly high threshold — the kind of place where ladies of leisure and mildly celebrity-status business people spend time in a composed atmosphere. Prices are also on the higher side, so this time I would like to introduce a different spot with a focus on cost performance and satisfaction.

Manhattan Grill

Directly below the first floor of the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo, connected by elevator, is a shop called “Manhattan Grill,” with its entrance waiting for you as soon as you step off on basement floor 1.
If you are coming from Tokyo Station, the directly connected route via “JR Exit 12”, where you won’t get wet in the rain, is best! The shop is located right by Exit 12.
And this Manhattan Grill’s evening program “HAPPY HOUR” (17:00–19:00) is a fantastic, extremely reasonable deal. Astonishingly, all drinks are “300 yen flat!” — a truly unbeatable offer.

Just to be sure, I asked the staff, “Do I have to order food as well?” and the reply was, “There is a table charge, but you do not need to order a meal.” Incidentally, the table charge is 480 yen. Well, fair enough, I thought, and ordered a draft beer. Soon the beer arrived, followed by the table charge dish — and!

When the table charge dish arrived, I was surprised! It is a plate on a completely different level from the crude table-charge dishes at izakayas.
Let me list the varied items on the plate.

  1. Marinated octopus
  2. Chilled pumpkin with balsamic sauce
  3. Chilled steamed chicken with cream sauce
  4. Shimeji mushroom salad with olive oil
  5. Mentaiko mousse with crackers

The drinks are also quite good. I ended up moving on from draft beer to wine as my second glass, which was served in a fine wine glass — the atmosphere is nice. The flavor was a medium-full-bodied wine with fruity notes, just the way I like it. Splendid!

Draft beer, red wine, table charge — the total came to “1,166 yen” including tax. In the heart of Tokyo’s Marunouchi, that’s wonderful. Excellent cost performance!

Also, during certain periods, they offer a discount when you show your ticket stub (during the Chaumet Exhibition it was “5% off”).
