【rooms EXPERIENCE 37】カラフルな色彩と80年代への思い〜ネゴシックス「バキバキ商店&超ローカル情報局ブース」

rooms EXPERIENCE

“rooms EXPERIENCE,” a joint trade show for fashion and design.
While the event is open to the general public, it is hosted by H.P.FRANCE and draws many industry insiders including press and buyers.
Designers and creators chasing the latest trends are among the exhibitors, and since visitors can speak directly with the makers themselves, it is an especially enjoyable event.

Negosix’s “Bakibaki Shop & Ultra-Local Information Bureau Booth”

In one corner of the venue, I found a colorfully decorated area. It belonged to Negosix, a comedian affiliated with Yoshimoto Kogyo.
A native of Shimane Prefecture, Negosix presents highly niche local material from Shimane — where he lived until age 20 — as the “Shimane GO6 Information Bureau.”

All the information here isn't a fictional setup — it's real information.

He is also actively producing artworks. Many pieces on view were rendered in vivid, primary-color-driven palettes.

The worldview is distinctive, but the way the colors are combined is really interesting.

One unique piece was a work he said he wanted to see hung on a wall with no window frame. What appears between the distant mountains is a capsule-toy machine. Negosix, who said he “put it there in place of a transmission tower,” explained that he loves the dagashi (penny candy) shops of the 1980s and incorporates them into his work.

The fixtures were designed to evoke an old-school candy shop (dagashi-ya).

Ah, this really is unique. Better not to frame it.

Placed in a bathroom without a window frame, it looked refreshingly pleasant.

He also seems to like drippy, gloppy works like the one on the right.

Even in his work as a comedian, he performs routines using his own artworks. I found a video, which I am embedding below.

The booth also offered portrait drawings for 2,000 yen. Negosix was generous with conversation, making it a very enjoyable stretch of time. More than a comedian, Negosix gave the impression of someone engaging sincerely with his work. He also holds solo exhibitions, so if you’re interested, please check his social media and elsewhere.
