I had a chance to visit “gallery N” in Nagoya.
The gallery is a short walk from Motoyama Station on the Higashiyama Subway Line from Nagoya, so — thinking I’d love to enjoy some Nagoya cuisine while I was there — I decided to have kishimen at the popular “Ebisuya Nekogahora Branch.”
The shop turned out to be in the opposite direction from “gallery N,” a 7–8 minute walk from the station.
Inside, there is tatami seating at the back; I took a seat at a table. I worried it might be crowded during the lunch rush, but I was able to sit at a table without waiting in line.
There are lots of items on the menu. The noodles are hand-made in-house, and you can choose from soba, udon, or kishimen.
Miso-nikomi and curry udon looked popular too, but I went with the cold “ebi oroshi” kishimen.
Look at the enormous shrimp fry!
The dashi was lightly seasoned and truly delicious. I finished every bit — head of the shrimp and soup included!
A truly wonderful meal.
