Kunst haus
The November 3, 2018 broadcast of NTV’s “Burari Tochu-gesha no Tabi” featured the Keio Line.
Getting off at Hashimoto Station — the terminus of the Keio Sagamihara Line — and wandering from there, the show arrived at “Kunst haus,” a shared studio used by ten artists.
The shared studio “Kunst haus” is home to ten sculptors working in three-dimensional media.
Moe Nakamura
Wood-sculpture artist Moe Nakamura is one of the most-watched young artists on the scene, with appearances at Art Fair Tokyo and other events.
Summary
Kunst haus began around 1994, when students from Tokyo Zokei University started renting the space together to keep making work after graduation. Through changes of membership and various overhauls of the layout, it settled into its present form. It consistently houses a large group of around ten artists.
Members are drawn mainly from sculpture and other three-dimensional fields, but there is no strict genre restriction. The aim is a free, diverse working environment that can be enjoyed by artists of every age and gender.
