Naoya Inose’s First Solo Exhibition “Blue”
A solo exhibition by Naoya Inose — an artist strongly championed by our site — is set to open.
The show is titled “Blue,” and the venue is the art gallery “THE CLUB” at GINZA SIX. Astonishingly, it will be his first-ever solo exhibition.
Naoya Inose is best known for his “Monolith” series. Viewing these landscape works in person triggers an unsettling ripple — a powerful sense of “pressure” strikes you.
Because this first solo exhibition is presented in a “retrospective” format that mixes new and older works, it will be a chance even for first-time viewers to feel the depth of Inose’s practice.
The exhibition runs for two months, starting this coming Saturday, December 1.

To coincide with this exhibition, an opening talk will be held between the artist — currently visiting from London — and Junji Ito, Specially Appointed Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. They will discuss the creative process, the concepts behind the works, the differences between Japanese and British art education, and opportunities for emerging artists.
Junji Ito: Specially Appointed Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. Honorary Director of the Toyama Glass Art Museum. Art critic. He has produced numerous cross-disciplinary projects spanning art, music, architecture, and urban planning. Commissioner of the Japan Pavilion at the 1995 Venice Biennale. Former Director of the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum.
