[News] A New Art-Fair Model Led by Artists — "ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO 2019" to Be Held

【News】アーティストが主導する新しいアートフェアの形〜「ARTISTSʼ FAIR KYOTO 2019」開催

ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2019

Following its 2018 edition, “ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2019” has been announced.
The fair will run over two days: Saturday, March 2 – Sunday, March 3, 2019. *A special preview will be held on Friday, March 1.

Unlike a typical art fair convened by galleries and curators, this event runs on a different model. As in the previous edition, Noboru Tsubaki serves as director, joined by an advisory board of 13 front-line artists — Mitsuhiro Ikeda, Kaoru Usukubo, Daisuke Ohba, Teppei Kaneuji, Akira Kamo, Chiharu Shiota, Kohei Takahashi, Kenji Tsuruta, Kohei Nawa, Aiko Miyanaga, Yoshitaka Yazu, Kenji Yanobe, and Yotta — who each select participating young artists through curation from their distinct perspectives.

An open-call section has also been newly established to discover fresh talent. Centered on 43 groups of young artists in their 20s and 30s, selected through nomination and open call, the fair will feature more than 200 works.

From Kyoto — a city that has continually generated innovation out of tradition — a new “art fair” launches once again, under the concept of “Singularity of Art,” pushing artists onto the world stage and into the next dimension of practice.
