Contemporary Art Foundation (CAF)
The “Contemporary Art Foundation” (hereafter CAF) is a public interest incorporated foundation launched by Yusaku Maezawa, former CEO of ZOZOTOWN.
CAF’s mission is to promote knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art through activities such as organizing contemporary art exhibitions, and to contribute to the advancement of contemporary art by fostering the skills of emerging artists and musicians.
The CAF Award
Aligned with that mission, the “CAF Award” is an art award aimed at fostering young artists, open to students at high schools, universities, graduate schools, and vocational schools.
Launched in 2014, the 2018 edition marks the fifth iteration.

The prominence of Tokyo University of the Arts alumni among the entrants was hard to miss, but the works were of a very high standard, and the collective presentation of these promising artists was full of energy — a satisfying show to walk through. I look forward to seeing more from each of them.
