We visited “3331 ART FAIR 2019,” held as a partner event of Art Fair Tokyo.
The venue is 3331 Arts Chiyoda, close to Suehirocho Station.

The fair runs for five days.A wide variety of projects unfold throughout 3331 Arts Chiyoda, from the ground floor all the way up to the rooftop.In the gymnasium, local-area galleries and art universities were exhibiting.On the gymnasium stage, a familiar giant rabbit made an appearance…On the rooftop, a large installation was on view.

Two works by Masanobu Tomita that sold out at First ChoiceWorks by Ayaka Yamamoto were also on show.Anna Scripcariu-Ochiai, who always takes such care in explaining her work.Mari Katayama was also selling a photobook published at the same time.Yuriko Sasaoka’s video work — its low-tech puppetry combined with collage-like editing was fascinating.A work by Jungok Ri, memorable for its beautiful colorThis sculpture using fine technique on woodblocks is by Makoto Nakada.Ryu Kawada’s still life — magnificent.A juggling piece we recognized — Shun Onozawa!It carried a price tag. Apparently he takes commissioned orders.
Works by Goro Murayama were priced very reasonably.A work by Katsuhiko Hibino, priced very high (2,000,000 yen).Mai Ohara showed three-dimensional pieces in felt and stone-powder clay.A work by Satoshi Murakami, whom we often see at art fairs.
3.11 Charity Auction
The fair’s signature project, the “3.11 Charity Auction,” was also underway.
All the bidding proceeds go to charity.
The system starts bidding at a minimum of 3,331 yen — as an auction, there is no upper limit.Auction lot — “Nerhol”
We attended from opening day’s First Choice, and the venue was buzzing with collectors and industry professionals.
