Mami Kosemura/Naoko Sekine/Aiko Tezuka
I visited a group show by three artists at MA2 Gallery in Ebisu.
This is an exhibition by three women, all born in the 1970s, who continue to produce work with an eye on the world.
Aiko Tezuka
Based in Germany, Tezuka creates works in which textiles woven into the shape of a canvas are partially unraveled.
Looking closely, you can see that birds were drawn in the original fabric pattern before it was unraveled.
Mami Kosemura
This summer, video and photo artist Mami Kosemura had her much-talked-about first solo exhibition at Hara Museum of Contemporary Art. This time, all the works on view were video pieces.
The only work available for purchase at this show is this one, an edition of five. It is a video piece in which a butterfly keeps fluttering its wings gently.
Naoko Sekine
Naoko Sekine presented abstract paintings made with pencil, acrylic, and other media.
Each of the three artists filled the space with her own mode of expression.
