Kunihiko Nohara Solo Exhibition
Kunihiko Nohara, who drew considerable attention with his solo exhibition at Ginza Tsutaya.
We visited around the time his solo exhibition opened at his representing gallery, gallery UG.
He also had a major presentation at Art Fair Tokyo very recently; this exhibition is a sort of sequel that includes works produced live at Ginza Tsutaya Books.

gallery UG is divided into two floors, a first basement floor and a ground floor, and this exhibition unfolded across both.
In the first basement, the presentation also included materials that offer a glimpse of the making process.

On the ground floor, recent works were on view.

At the gallery, we were able to actually hold and touch various works.
As you savor the weight of each work and each material, you find yourself gripped by the urge to add these pieces to your own collection.
We were also reminded of the appeal of wood carving through the scent of camphor.
The green, healing aroma varies with the year of production, and we could feel the differences.
Including the warmth transmitted to the hand, we were able to face the works with all five senses fully engaged.
Nohara’s daughter, who has also appeared as a model in his works, was in the gallery in a wonderful mood, wrapping the space in a warm atmosphere.
