Katherine Bernhardt “Big In Japan!”

I visited Katherine Bernhardt’s solo exhibition “Big In Japan!” The venue is the Shibuya gallery “NANZUKA.”

Katherine Bernhardt is a female artist born in 1975. She also participated in “Mickey: The True Original Exhibition,” commemorating the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse’s birth — an artist endorsed by Disney itself.

Katherine Bernhardt’s works take existing characters as motifs and, using acrylic paint applied with both brush and spray, depict them in a deliberately distorted way.

The depicted characters no longer retain their original forms, but they seem reborn — fresh and endearing, as if a new element has been added.

All the works were sold out. A popular, closely watched artist.
