I visited “Klimt Exhibition: Vienna and Japan 1900,” held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

We introduce the exhibition, including the works on display, in an illustrated article below. Please take a look if you like.

In this article, since the goods shop in the venue was wonderfully extensive, I’ll introduce it.

Also, the goods shop of the Vienna Modern exhibition running at the same time was substantial too. You may be able to find collaboration products with this Klimt exhibition.

Catalogue

The standard-item exhibition catalogue comes in two cover versions.
Two covers are available: you can choose between 《Judith I》, a representative work of the “golden style” era, and 《The Three Ages of Woman》, a masterpiece making its first visit to Japan.

The catalogue is priced at 2,500 yen (incl. tax). Thick, with rich content.

Postcards

Among the goods on sale, the first to check is the array of postcards.
At 150 yen each (incl. tax), many kinds of postcards are available, and it takes time to choose.

Please also see our article on how to handle postcards.

A World First!? Gold Sticky Notes

Many original goods are prepared at this exhibition’s goods shop.
The item to note most is the “gold sticky notes.”
As a staff member’s comment suggests—perhaps the world’s first?—it’s a made-in-Japan product created by a Shitamachi-Rocket-like factory that developed special technology to apply adhesive to gold paper. Gold sticky notes almost too good to use.

There are four sticky-note cases. The price is 600 yen (excl. tax).

With an affordable price range, it’s sure to become a popular item.
The gold sticky notes use sturdy paper and are high quality.

Klimt & Cat Figure

The soft-vinyl Klimt doll is also a purely Japanese product made in Shitamachi.
It’s a notable “figure” of Klimt himself holding a cat.
An item showcasing Japanese technical skill, faithfully reproduced down to the details.

Red Sketchbook

The sketchbook with an impressive red cover shouldn’t be missed either.
Here and there in the sketchbook remain Klimt’s own sketches, so it’s a gem that lets you realize a collaboration with your own drawings.

Miniature Canvas

“Miniature canvases,” which let you easily enjoy Klimt works at home, were also available in many kinds.

The price of the “miniature canvas” works varies by size, ranging from about 4,000 to 10,000 yen.

Other Substantial Items

Other than that, the goods shop is stocked with a variety of products—a substantial lineup.

Recent blockbuster (large-scale) exhibitions really have fun goods shops.
As for quality, reliable made-in-Japan products are used, so I think you can buy with confidence.
Beyond the items introduced with photos this time, there’s a large lineup.
I’d like you to look for your own souvenir at the venue.

My recommendation is, after all, the catalogue. And then perhaps the “gold sticky notes” that staff highly recommend.
I hope you all enjoy the pleasure of shopping.
