The 34-Meter-Long Mural 《Beethoven Frieze》

The 34-meter-long mural 《Beethoven Frieze》 created by Klimt.
In this exhibition, its display at the Vienna Secession building is reproduced through a replica.

The mural 《Beethoven Frieze》, exceeding 34 meters in length, is a major work Klimt created around age 40.

A knight armored in golden armor heads toward the enemy in search of happiness, and the journey to reaching paradise unfolds like a picture scroll. This mural, inspired by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, concludes with a chorus of angels and the kiss of a man and woman.

Speaking of music, the audio guide by special supporter Goro Inagaki was also good.
Classical music related to the works plays as BGM, so you can immerse yourself in a pleasant world through your ears too.

Using materials such as gold, glass, and mother-of-pearl to express joy within radiance, the frieze is truly a masterpiece representative of Klimt’s “golden style” era.

Original Goods

The substantial product lineup at the special goods shop is surely a big part of enjoying this exhibition.
Choosing is sure to become a real pleasure. I’ve compiled it in the article below, so please take a look.

An exhibition where you can immerse yourself thoroughly in Klimt’s world. A really fine show!

Hakuichi × Klimt Exhibition Gold-Leaf Collaboration

The post-viewing photo spot was first class too.
This is a collaboration project between the gold-leaf (Kanazawa-leaf) maker “Hakuichi (HAKUICHI),” headquartered in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and the Klimt Exhibition. The radiance of pure gold is a dazzling beauty—surprising at first sight.

The title logo at the entrance was also finished in pure gold leaf—the same work by Hakuichi as the photo spot.

Also, by viewing this together with “Vienna Modern: Klimt, Schiele, and the Road to the End of the Century,” held at the same time at The National Art Center, Tokyo, you’ll surely gain a deeper art experience.
