HYKRX SOLO EXHIBITION
I visited the solo exhibition of HYKRX.
The venue is EUKARYOTE, a gallery in Gaienmae.
This exhibition is reportedly the artist’s first solo show at this location since the one held at “Saison Art Gallery,” EUKARYOTE’s predecessor.
There have been many inquiries about the works, and although I visited on the second day, many pieces had already been sold or reserved.
HYKRX’s works are painted in what is known as a street art style.
The stencils are meticulously handmade.
Reflecting the artist’s intent to keep prices accessible, the pieces were reasonably priced and relatively easy to acquire.
What lingered pleasantly was the artist’s attempt to transform negative perceptions into positive messages.
Lately, the momentum around street art has been remarkable.
I’ve heard talk of insiders driving the boom.
I hope it doesn’t turn into a mere money game.
