Motoki Tanaka

The artist I paid particular attention to at this exhibition was the sculptor Motoki Tanaka.
Taking impressions people give and anonymity as his themes, he expresses “someone who is somebody, yet nobody.”

The works displayed in a corner of the group-exhibition space were bathed in precisely placed spotlights within the dimly lit room, giving off an uneasy atmosphere.
The striking presence of the white bodies of the “COLOR” series, together with the darkness of the black masks like black holes, seemed to draw the viewer in.
