Museo del Novecento
I visited the Museo del Novecento, located a stone’s throw from the Duomo, Milan’s largest tourist attraction in Italy.
A local recommended it as the go-to spot for contemporary art, but it turned out to be a museum centered on 1900s paintings and contemporary art. The floor plan is long and narrow — the museum occupies a vertically elongated building.
For better or worse, it left the impression of a rather conservative museum.
Perhaps my timing was off, but I couldn’t find galleries in Italy that gather sharp, up-and-coming young artists.
As a museum to drop by while visiting the Duomo, you can enjoy sweeping views over the piazza and take in some art efficiently.
