Hinako Suda “nobodyknows”
I visited Hinako Suda’s solo exhibition “nobodyknows.” The venue is JINEN GALLERY.
Hinako Suda is currently a first-year student in the Oil Painting Department at Tokyo University of the Arts.
Entering university in April and holding a solo show in June — that’s a rather quick pace, but the exhibition had actually been arranged during her days at prep school.
Her free-flowing, bold brushwork seems to embody her youth, radiating a spirited and unrestrained expressiveness.
While the works are rough-hewn and imbued with the raw energy of youth, I was able to see pieces that hint at strong future potential.
An artist whose next steps are worth watching.
Without any pause, a two-person show (at the same gallery) is planned for later this same month.
I plan to keep watching her for a while yet.
