Yuasa Eboshi “Kyokuba-ko”
I visited Yuasa Eboshi’s solo exhibition “Kyokuba-ko.” The venue is Tsutaya Books at GINZA SIX.

Yuasa Eboshi’s profile describes him as a fictional third-rate painter born in the Taisho era, but in reality the artist is a young contemporary who impersonates the character of Yuasa Eboshi and presents work under that persona.

Collage Works
This is a collage series that uses “Shonen Kurabu,” the magazine beloved by children during the war years.

Roof Tile Series

Even knowing full well that we’re being tricked, we still dive right into that world ourselves.
The unexpected inventiveness of the Yuasa Eboshi conceit and the sheer fun of the mimicked works taught me yet another way to enjoy art.
