Miku Niinomi and Miki Hayakawa
We visited “Boundary,” a two-person show by two female artists from Nagoya. The venue is Shinseido, a gallery in Aoyama.

Miku Niinomi
The vermilion-like red that runs through Niinomi’s work. A truly beautiful color came through.

I was able to speak with Niinomi, who had rushed in overnight by bus from Nagoya.
Looking through her portfolio, I was struck by how wonderfully wild her student work was.
Rather than being tied to sellable paintings, I would love to see more of her fierce, uninhibited work.
Miki Hayakawa
I hadn’t seen Hayakawa’s work since her show at Galerie Kunimatsu, but she was, as always, delivering wonderful figurative paintings.

I was able to talk with Hayakawa as well.
Her thoughts on the show’s theme, “Boundary,” were fascinating.
The work titled “The Shift in Temperature” was superb.
