Kurumi Kotani “SIGN”
We visited Kurumi Kotani’s solo exhibition “SIGN”.
The venue is the Art Gallery and Alternative Space on the 8th floor of the B building at Seibu Shibuya.

Looking back over Kurumi Kotani’s past exhibitions, this show features the largest number of works to date.

She is a popular young artist whose works consistently sell out at exhibitions regardless of whether they are held in Kanto or Kansai. Despite still being in the middle of the run, every piece had already been sold.
Since graduating from Kyoto University of Art and Design, the prices of her works have been rising on the strength of her popularity, and the quality of the works in this show struck me as even more refined than before.

The prototypes I saw at her in-school studio when I visited during her graduation show in February 2019 were on view here as the “BREATH series”.
Not standing still, Kurumi keeps evolving.
Many exhibition opportunities are lined up for her going forward. My expectations grow all the more.
* At the collector exhibition below, works from the author’s own collection will be shown together with new pieces by Kurumi Kotani, which will also be available for purchase.
