・／# La la la la la la la la la la………. Do do do do do… Ah ah ah..
I visited Narumi Sasaki’s first solo exhibition after graduation, “・／# La la la la la la la la la la………. Do do do do do… Ah ah ah..” The venue is LOKO GALLERY in Daikanyama.
The exhibition title is quite long, but the opening “・／#” is apparently read vertically as a set of pictographs. The pictographs are said to represent the moon, the ground, and rice paddies. The lengthy latter portion is quoted from the lyrics of Minnie Riperton’s famous song “Lovin’ You.” Indeed, if you follow the lyrics, you can confirm that.
Narumi Sasaki is an artist for whom I have deep personal feelings, and I have had several opportunities to view her works, including at the Tokyo University of the Arts graduation exhibition and the Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi.
1st Floor
LOKO GALLERY is a gallery divided between the first and second floors.
The exhibited works were also spread across two floors.
Cafe
Only one work was displayed in the cafe corner.
Combining glass and canvas, the colors of the glass are projected onto the canvas surface by the lighting, presenting subtle and delicate hues.
2nd Floor
On the second floor, I was able to view not only the exhibited works but also works kept in the office (back room).
Back Room
A wonderful solo exhibition.
I will continue to watch her artistic career with great attention.
