James Turrell
While in Shanghai for ART021 and WEST BUND ART&DESIGN, we learned that a solo exhibition by James Turrell was on view, and paid a visit to the gallery ALMINE RECH.
Wide Glass series
The highlight of the exhibition, the Wide Glass series, consists of works whose colors shift as time passes.
This was our first time viewing a Turrell video work at the intimate scale of a gallery.
It naturally cannot compare with Open Field at the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima, but no matter where you encounter it, it’s unmistakably Turrell. The pieces carried great presence and force.
