Miko Hara “Self-portrait”
We visited Miko Hara’s solo exhibition “Self-portrait.” The venue is gallery N Kanda Shataku.
All things change their form over time. Above all, human beings live amid constant, moment-by-moment change. I create my work with the fragility, uncertainty, and beauty of such human existence as its themes. This exhibition presents a new series of photographic works alongside my series of portrait works that resemble droplets of water. For me, artwork is a way to confirm the “now” within passing time, and “life” that exists alongside death. (Miko Hara)
This is a new-work exhibition by Miko Hara centered on the “Portrait” series, in which mirror sheets are applied to 20mm acrylic boards and finished with resin and pigments.
The transparent, luminous quality of the Portrait series left a strong impression.
While the show unfolded across a diverse range of works including other series, it held together with a crisp cohesion, making it a solo exhibition that felt genuinely comfortable to experience.
