It has been announced that Art Fair Tokyo 2020 has been cancelled as of March 4, 2020.
Art Fair Tokyo 2020
The details of “Art Fair Tokyo 2020” have been announced.
The fair will be held over four days from Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22, 2020, at Tokyo International Forum (3-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).

Marking its 15th edition since the inaugural fair in 2005, “AFT 2020” takes place under the theme “with Art.”
Last year Art Fair Tokyo was held in early March, but this time it overlaps with “Art Basel Hong Kong,” one of the world’s largest art fairs held in the same Asian region (Art Basel Hong Kong runs from March 17 to 21).
There had been concern about how exhibiting galleries would respond to the overlapping schedule, but a look at the exhibitor list suggests there are no major shifts.

Of particular note is the debut of “ANOMALY,” a new gallery formed by the merger of three of the most important players in Japanese contemporary art: Yamamoto Gendai, URANO, and Hashimoto Art Office.

Art Fair Tokyo 2020 will feature a total of 146 exhibitors from 29 cities in Japan and abroad, with the combined booth floor area reaching the largest scale in the fair’s history.
