We visited “Mere Painting,” a solo exhibition by Shuhei Ise.
The venue is Takuro Someya Contemporary Art.
The title “Mere Painting” is a phrase from a book by Natsuyuki Nakanishi that deeply moved Shuhei Ise.
Each work possessed such depth of surface that one felt drawn into the canvas — thoroughly memorable. The traces of the brush conveyed a delicate expression within their roughness, and the subtle expressions communicated through colour left a lingering, deeply savoured resonance.
