“Dress Code: Playing with Fashion” at Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto
We visited the exhibition “Dress Code: Playing with Fashion.” The venue was the Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto.
The Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto is located in the heart of the city. We found ourselves envying the people of Kumamoto for having a museum they can drop by on a whim.
This exhibition approaches fashion from the standpoint of “wearing” and, further, from the angles of “seeing” and “being seen.”
Widening its interpretation of fashion to take in film and manga as well, the show invites us to reconsider the new “dress codes” of contemporary society and the practice — the “game” — of how we dress.
