Hitoshi Tsuboyama “Universe”

I visited Hitoshi Tsuboyama’s solo exhibition “Universe.” The venue is the Tagboat Gallery inside Hankyu MEN’S TOKYO (Yurakucho).

In 2019, Tsuboyama took part in a three-month residency in Shanghai. He speaks of witnessing firsthand China’s technology-driven information control.

The new series presented in this exhibition uses painting to depict “another world constructed by invisible things such as data and information” — a reality he felt during his time in China.
