Takumi Suzuki “Fortune”
I visited Takumi Suzuki’s solo exhibition “Fortune.” The venue is the gallery “Shinseido.”
Takumi Suzuki is an emerging artist scheduled to complete the Japanese Painting research program at the Graduate School of Tama Art University this March.
Although his background is in Japanese painting, he was exhibiting works made primarily with acrylic paints.
While we can share joy and pleasure with others, there are also confrontations and divisions that arise from misunderstandings, jealousy, and aversion toward the other.
I focused on the negativity and impossibility surrounding an understanding of the other that creates gaps in our mutual relationships. Taking as my theme “what we lack,” I aimed to express both the beauty and the ugliness of the human being.— from the artist statement
