Veuve Clicquot × Yayoi Kusama
A collaboration bottle between the Champagne house “Veuve Clicquot” and Yayoi Kusama was released exclusively at Isetan.
What was sold is the “Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2012 Yayoi Kusama Gift Box.”
Veuve Clicquot’s top-grade champagne “La Grande Dame” 2012 has a small production number and is a rare bottle. Over 90% of the blend is said to be the black grape Pinot Noir; it can be enjoyed in 2–3 years, and about 10 years of aging is also anticipated.

The gift box, based on the iconic polka-dot pattern drawn in orange on a black ground, is designed with a flower evoking Madame Clicquot, Veuve Clicquot’s founder. The dot pattern is adopted on the bottle label too.
To commemorate the release, a reservation-based limited-time event was held from September 23, 2020, on the 1st floor of the Isetan Shinjuku main building.

In the museum-like venue adorned with a dot pattern, in addition to the collaboration champagne being sold, a replica of Yayoi Kusama’s work 《Madame Clicquot Self-Obliterated by Polka Dots》 and a roughly 2m three-dimensional sculpture were displayed.

Also, a poem written specially for this collaboration was posted.

Also, the poem above was recited by Yayoi Kusama herself, and the audio played.
It was a precious chance to hear Yayoi Kusama’s own recent voice.

The participants who could enter the venue were limited, and the collaboration champagne sold out instantly online, while in-person buyers filled up quickly by reservation too.
This precious collaboration project is sure to become an item that goes premium.
