Osamu Mori, “Ba de ya”
I visited Osamu Mori’s solo exhibition “Ba de ya,” his first in ten years. The venue was PARCEL.
This is the artist’s first solo exhibition in ten years.
The highlight of the show is the roughly four-meter-tall wooden sculpture “Jamboree-EP.”
Although the piece takes Elvis Presley as its motif, its distinctive forms are worked out down to the smallest detail.
The sheer power of the work was striking — utterly overwhelming.
“Jamboree-EP” was previously shown at the 2019 open studio of the shared atelier “Studio Kodai,” but this exhibition marks the first time it has been presented in a gallery.
