[24-Hour Only Release] Tom Sachs’s First Print Edition in Three Years
Leading American contemporary artist Tom Sachs, in collaboration with Avant Arte and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), is releasing a silkscreen print edition of 《Too Darn Hot》.

The work will go on sale for a strict 24-hour window on the contemporary-art marketplace “Avant Arte”, starting November 2 at 17:00 GMT (2:00 AM Japan Standard Time). Anyone who wishes to buy may do so, and 40% of the proceeds will go toward supporting LACMA.
The price is set at €750. At the euro/yen rate at the time of writing (1 EUR = 147 JPY), that works out to an accessible 110,250 yen. If you are a fan, this is a release worth checking out.
《Too Darn Hot》
This edition, 《Too Darn Hot》, combines iconic logos such as Cup Noodle, Chanel, and Trojan to complete his signature “Frankenrocket.”

The “Frankenrocket” series is a playful body of work in which the rocket is split into three parts, each assigned an iconic image, and reassembled into a complete rocket. The series is now held in LACMA’s permanent collection. LACMA — which supports Rocket Factory through its Art + Technology Lab — was the first major museum to acquire an NFT for its collection.
An NFT-Linked Release
For this release, each edition ships with an NFT, combining the digital and on-chain authentication Sachs has recently developed through his “Rocket Factory” project with a physical silkscreen print. The prints will incorporate the following unique authentication features:
- A numbered debossed hand-stamp, evoking the earliest stamps used by 15th-century public officials.
- A QR code printed in UV-fluorescent ink that links the holder to LACMA’s collection-acquired NFT of 《Too Darn Hot》. It becomes visible under UV light.
- A custom holographic sticker on the back of each print, allowing collectors to claim the accompanying NFT. A second QR code sticker links the print’s edition number to the owner’s digital wallet, authenticating the print.
- Each print also comes with a physical Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) bearing a second QR code that links to the accompanying NFT.

“I am truly honored to be able to create this print in support of LACMA. LACMA is not just a museum — it is a critical cultural institution, and no other institution engages this deeply with art and technology. It is no accident that LACMA was the first major international museum to acquire an NFT project. When Michael Govan, the museum’s art director, asked me if I would create an edition of 《Too Darn Hot》 for the museum, there was no hesitation.”
— Tom Sachs
“As Tom Sachs’s and LACMA’s partner, we are proud to be releasing Tom’s first screen print in three years. 《Too Darn Hot》, on sale for 24 hours only, gives art lovers and collectors a chance to own a Tom Sachs work while supporting the remarkable work LACMA does to make art accessible to a wide audience. This collaboration is about democratizing access for collectors and bringing great art closer to home by supporting public institutions like LACMA. It’s an exciting moment for Avant Arte as well.”
— Christian Luiten, co-founder of Avant Arte
