One of Karuizawa’s Recommended Soba Restaurants: “Sasakura”
Among the many soba restaurants in the Karuizawa area, this one offers great value for money.

“Sasakura,” a restaurant along the old Nakasendō road

The standard menu

The hot soba is recommended.
This time I ordered the “kake soba with mini tempura rice bowl (1,180 yen).”

The moment it arrives, you catch the fine aroma of the dashi wafting up.

Kake soba

The mini tempura rice bowl comes with two shrimp, plus mountain vegetables and more.

À la carte dishes and dessert menu

The fried mochi (two pieces for 300 yen) can be had with grated daikon or sugar-soy sauce, your choice. The photo shows sugar-soy sauce.
Enjoying a daytime drink at the tatami seating is my favorite way to spend time at this restaurant.
Do give it a try.
