On Rue de Solférino in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, near the Musée d’Orsay, stands a white, serene corner building.
I visited the CASEY CASEY flagship store.
The exterior is exceedingly discreet. The white-painted façade bears only a small brand plaque — walk past absent-mindedly, and you might miss it entirely.
Step inside, and the flow of time seems to gently slow down.
Bare wooden floors, curtains hung nonchalantly, walls that look hand-painted, soft lighting.
Nothing feels overly composed, yet somehow the space achieves a kind of perfection.
Garments are quietly arranged on rolling racks along the walls.
Founder Gareth Casey champions a philosophy of clothing-making that values “time and handwork.” Every garment, finished by hand-dyeing and hand-finishing, is one of a kind, radiating a presence akin to a sculpture. The unglazed clay sculptures on display also seem to speak of the brand’s philosophy toward objects.
In recent years, the boundary between art and fashion has grown increasingly blurred. From Louis Vuitton × Takashi Murakami to Dior × Yayoi Kusama, this is an era in which artists carry the worldview of a brand. Amid all this, CASEY CASEY quietly — yet powerfully — presents clothing as “expression.”
This shop is not merely a retail space. It feels closer to an installation, or a gallery. To wear CASEY CASEY is to become part of an expression. And this place is filled with a beautiful stillness that marks the beginning of that experience.
